21st ANNUAL COALITION CADDIE CLASSIC GOLF OUTING
FRIDAY, AUGUST 17, 2018
Shiloh Park Golf Course
The Coalition for Healthy Communities invites you to support our 21st Annual Coalition Caddie Classic Golf outing. Golfers from across Zion, Winthrop Harbor and Beach Park will participate in this truly unique event, which pairs golfers with young people from our community serving as their caddies. The interaction between the two allows for conversation and mentoring. Those who have participated say that it is a truly special day. This event provides funding for the Coalition’s many health, wellness and social issue programs across the Zion-Benton community. Some of our programs are noted below:
Our Community Wellness Task Force continues to bring new opportunities for healthier living through programs such as Health is Wealth fairs, Caregiver Support Groups, the Community Garden, the Community of Character Walk, and more. Also, through our continuing “Six Words Can Change a Community!” initiative, we are embracing people from all races, cultures, life experiences and abilities to create community of character.
The Literacy Task Force has partnered with the Meemic Foundation to add 15 little free libraries throughout our tri-community. A tutor guide was developed for community residents and the Zion Benton Public Library is now offering screenings for children age birth to 5 years to check development and assist with early intervention if needed.
Helping our young people make good choices when it comes to substance abuse is at the heart of our Substance Abuse
Prevention Task Force. Programs such as Healthy YOUth, Social Norms Campaigns, and Teen Court help encourage positive lifestyles for our youth. In addition, this task force partnered with the Zion Police Department to become a model for the Prescription Drug Take Back program, which allows individuals to dispose of old prescription drugs safely.
The Coalition is very proud of its Zion Benton Leadership Academy and the Junior Zion Benton Leadership Academy. These two programs assist and empower individuals from high school through the active work force by giving them the education and tools to become inspiring leaders in our community. Past participants have said that these programs have been a transforming experience in their lives.
Your support of the Caddie Classic helps ensure that the Coalition can continue these initiatives. Whether you join us for golf at the event or donate in some other way, your support is very much appreciated. A listing of donor opportunities is enclosed.
Thank you for your support.
